Teachers, the Hope for a Better Nation – Agbaje
Barrister Akeem Agbaje has congratulated teachers in Oyo State and across the globe on the commemoration of World Teachers’ Day. He identified the strategic and pivotal role they play in nation building.
“ I want to congratulate all teachers in Oyo State, Nigeria and the world over on yet another World Teachers’ Day. It is indeed a day to celebrate teachers for the critical role they play in nation building.
“It is a common saying that children are the future and statistics have shown that as a country, the bulk of our population are youths and children. These ones are at an impressionable age.
“If we believe these young generation are the future builders of our nation, then teachers are the ones to prepare them for that task. The hope of our nation rests in the hands of teachers that would mould this youthful generation.”
The APC stalwart urged better welfare to arrest the dearth of competent hands in the profession.
“The theme of this year’s celebration underscores the deficiency of teachers across the world. We cannot allow this noble profession to die. We must perpetuate it by encouraging more people to get involved. The cradle must be rocked continuously, the hands cannot afford to be few.
“I urge the government at all levels to prioritize the welfare of teachers and ensure only the competent ones are in the sector. Teaching should be a noble profession for interested best and not a stop-gap for those looking to pass time.
“If we want a better future, we must ensure our children who would build it are well equipped for it,” he added.
