JUST IN: Governor Seyi Makinde Initiates Adhoc Committee to Address State Labour Demands and ₦35,000 Wage Palliative
Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has taken a proactive step in addressing the demands of the state’s labour unions by inaugurating an adhoc inter-ministerial committee.
The committee, consisting of eleven members, was officially inaugurated on Monday at a special ceremony held at the EXCO Chambers of the Governor’s office in Agodi, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde emphasized his administration’s commitment to the welfare of state workers, highlighting the clearance of backlogs of promotions and arrears left unattended by the previous administration.
He commended the mutual understanding between the government and the state labour unions, emphasizing that addressing the implementation and well-being of the people requires collaboration at the state level.
The committee has been tasked with harmonizing the various demands put forth by the labour unions, while also considering other sectors that require government attention. Governor Makinde expressed confidence that the committee will provide favorable recommendations for both parties involved.
The eleven-man committee comprises notable individuals such as the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Service, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, the Commissioner for Finance, the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, the Executive Assistant on Security, the NLC Chairman, the TUC Chairman, the JNC Chairman, and the Director of Establishment Matters in the Ministry of Establishment and Training.
The committee has a timeline of one month from the date of inauguration to complete its work and present its recommendations.
My advice for the Gov is to carry along the Retiree in his all doings.
