First Lady Tinubu Reaffirms Federal Government’s Commitment to Universal Health Coverage

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC), which she described as a frontal attack on the nation’s healthcare challenges.

Senator Tinubu made this statement during a courtesy visit by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, and a team from the Susan Buffett Foundation.

She said that transforming the country’s healthcare system to make it accessible and beneficial to every Nigerian is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Nigeria is Africa, with a lot of Human Resources, and my husband has a good eye for working with talented people and I am excited for the new team in his cabinet as we are hoping to turn this country around,” she said.

The First Lady also reiterated Nigeria’s openness to collaborating with well-meaning organizations to achieve its healthcare goals.

Prof. Pate expressed gratitude to the First Lady for attending the Flag Off Ceremony of the Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine the previous day. He said that her presence at the ceremony shows the commitment of the federal government to ensuring and safeguarding the lives of girls and women in the country.

“The health and well being of our people is central to what this administration is doing, the advancement of health of girls and women is the future of this country,” he said.

The Susan Buffett Foundation, inspired by the Renewed Hope Agenda, will collaborate with the Federal Government towards ensuring that the administration’s agenda is accomplished.
