Agbaje Mourns Ibadan Grand Mufti
Barrister Akeem Agbaje has mourned the passage of renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abdulfatai Muhali Alaga. He described him as a man of peace who was a repository of Islamic knowledge.
“Sheikh Abdulfatai Muhali Alaga was a man that was given fully to the service of Almighty Allah. He used his life to admonish people to serve Allah. He was a firm believer in peace and continued to preach peaceful co-existence amongst people regardless of faith and tribe.
“Alfa Agba was fearless and never shied away from speaking truth to power regardless of whose ox was gored. He believed in Nigeria and continued to pray for her greatness.
“I remember with fond memories my meeting with baba. I have always heard of the role the Agbaje family played in the growth of Islam in Ibadan but baba provided me with documents to validate the story. For me, it was inspiring and for that I am eternally grateful to baba. Alfa Agba was an historian of note, especially in the matters of Islam.
“It is indeed a painful loss to not only the Muslim community but Ibadanland, the entire Oyo State and Nigeria at large. Indeed a conscientious voice of truth and a soothing voice of comfort to many has gone. He would be sorely missed for his timeless words of wisdom, counsel and deep encouragement. I pray for the repose of his soul and pray Almighty Allah grants him Al jannah firdaus. May Almighty Allah comfort us all and give us the strength to bear the loss because he would surely and sorely missed,” he admitted.
