President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sadness and concern following the devastating explosion that rocked Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Tuesday night.

The blast, attributed to illegal mining activities, claimed the lives of two individuals and injured approximately 80 others, causing widespread damage to buildings, vehicles, and property.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu condemned the “inexcusable and reckless behavior” that led to the tragedy.

He urged the responsible authorities to swiftly identify and punish those behind the illegal mining operations that created the unsafe conditions for the explosion.

The President extended his condolences to the Oyo State government and its people, emphasizing the shared grief of the nation during this time of loss. He called for prompt action from all relevant government agencies to fully investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure accountability.

Furthermore, President Tinubu directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with the Oyo State government in providing immediate and comprehensive relief to the victims of the explosion. This crucial support is intended to help families cope with the sudden loss of loved ones and the aftermath of the disaster.
