Oronsaye Report: A Chance for Nigeria to Finally Get Lean and Mean- Barr Akeem Agbaje
Barr Akeem Agbaje in a dynamic conversation on Vintage 93.7FM’s ON POINT with Awosemu Akinwale Felix, shared poignant reflections on the Oronsaye Report and its implications for Nigeria’s future.

The APC chieftain highlighted the significance of the report, stating, “The report, presented in 2012, requires courage to tackle which previous governments shied away, but the current administration is taking the right step in revisiting it.”

Addressing the proposed changes, Agbaje emphasized, “Efficiency is crucial. Our economy can’t sustain the challenges posed by 541 federal agencies. The suggested merger and streamlining align with the nation’s needs.”
Agbaje urged patience, stating, “the restructuring won’t happen overnight. The 12-week timeline is for initial steps. It’s a process that requires careful consideration.”

On anti-corruption efforts, Agbaje shared, “Creating more agencies is beneficial, but prevention is key. The ICPC, EFCC, and Code of Conduct play vital roles, but we must focus on preventing corruption, not just prosecuting.”
Discussing corruption’s cultural roots, Agbaje passionately noted, “We have a culture of corruption. It’s not just about public offices; small businesses suffer too. We need a holistic approach.”
On law enforcement, Agbaje stressed, “Laws on paper mean little without enforcement. Consequences and moral change are vital. We must instill a fear of consequences for any unlawful actions.”
