New Governing Board of Federal Polytechnic Ayede Holds Inaugural Meeting, Adopts Roadmap
The Federal Polytechnic Ayede Ogbomosho-Oyo State, took a significant step forward on Wednesday with the inaugural meeting of its new governing board and principal officers.
The meeting, chaired by Barr. Ademubowale Mercy Adelabu, was held at the institution’s temporary site along the Ogbomoso-Iresa Pupa road.
Barr. Adelabu emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to education, as outlined in the Renewed Hope Education Roadmap and its eight-point agenda. These initiatives aim to address key challenges in the education sector, including labour disputes, limited access to education, and the need to enhance the competitiveness of Nigeria’s educational institutions. The goals include revitalizing the education sector, improving skill development, increasing enrollment, reducing the number of out-of-school children, and addressing unemployment.
During the meeting, Barr. Adelabu called for cooperation among board members, principal officers, and stakeholders to create a supportive environment for learning and development. Discussions focused on student and staff welfare, new student enrollment, infrastructure development, and the timely completion of the institution’s permanent site to enable full academic activities.
The Chairman also encouraged prospective students to take advantage of the current registration process at the Federal Polytechnic Ayede.
The meeting was attended by council members, including Alhaji Aminu Sokoto, Mrs. Monisola Tegbe, Alhaji Modu Gobar Minta, Chief Matthew Adesanya, and Mrs. Nwokorie Chinyere, who represented the Federal Ministry of Education. Other attendees included Rev. Okunade Abraham Akinola from the Ayede community, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Abdulhameed (Rector), Mr. Ojo Azeez and Dr. Akintunde Mutairu (Deputy Rectors), Alhaja Titilayo Rasheedat (Bursar), and Akin Odesola (Registrar), among others.
In a related development, the board members paid courtesy visits to key political and community stakeholders to seek support for the institution. They met Chief Sunday Dare, former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Distinguished Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, and former Senator Chief Ayoade Adeseun.
Additionally, they also engaged traditional leaders, including His Imperial Majesty, Ọba Ghandi Afolabi Laoye Orumogẹ̀gẹ̀ III, Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Royal Majesty Ọba Sunday Oladapo Lagbami Osekun III, Onpetu of Ijeruland, and His Royal Majesty Ọba Moses Olayiwola Ajiboye III, Arẹsa of Iresaapa Land, following discussions with the Ayede-in-Council and local community.
