JUST IN: Makinde Approves New Alaafin of Oyo

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially approved Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo.

This decision follows thorough consultations and divinations conducted by the Oyomesi, the traditional council of Oyo, and has been formally endorsed by the Governor.

A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, confirmed that the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, made the announcement, marking the end of the legal and social disputes that arose after the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.

Hon Ojo has urged the citizens of Oyo State to unite in support of the new monarch, as the region enters a new phase under the leadership of Prince Owoade.

“We pray that the reign of the new Alaafin brings peace, prosperity, and unity to the historic Oyo Kingdom,” the statement concluded.
