FG Declares March 31 and April 1 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The announcement was made in a statement on Wednesday by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. She conveyed that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended the government’s congratulations to the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Muslim faithful to uphold the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace imbibed during Ramadan. He emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us reflect on the teachings of Islam that promote kindness, tolerance, and nation-building. This is a time for love and forgiveness, and I urge Nigerians to embrace these virtues for a more peaceful and united country,” the minister stated.
The minister further called on all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the nation. He expressed optimism that the celebration would foster unity across religious and ethnic divides, encouraging citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid Mubarak, praying that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to all.
