Hon Ikumogunniyi Biodun Asukuna Mourns the Passing of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin

Hon. Ikumogunniyi Biodun Asukuna, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and House of Representatives hopeful for Ibadan South West/Ibadan North West Federal Constituency, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, who joined his ancestors in the early hours of Monday, just two days after marking his 90th birthday.

In a condolence message released to the press, Hon. Asukuna described the transition of the revered monarch as a profound loss to the entire Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Yorubaland, stating that Oba Olakulehin was a royal father of distinction who brought dignity, wisdom, and stability to the traditional institution.

“We don’t always want them to go; we want them to stay with us, to continue guiding and blessing us with their presence. But there is an appointed time for all, and we must all return when our time comes. Kabiyesi lived a fulfilled life, one marked by grace, honour, and dedication to the service of his people.”

“In Kabiyesi, we had a father to all—calm in counsel, steady in spirit, and royal in character. His legacy will live on, not only in the palace archives but in the hearts of every son and daughter of Ibadan who witnessed his noble reign.”

Hon. Asukuna extended his heartfelt condolences to the Olakulehin royal family, the Olubadan-in-Council, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, the Oyo State Government, and indeed the entire people of Ibadanland, urging all to find solace in the meaningful life the monarch lived and the enduring heritage he left behind.

“May the Almighty grant His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, eternal rest in the land of our forefathers. May his soul find peace, and may the heavens receive him with the same honour and reverence with which we held him here on earth. Kabiyesi has gone to rest, but his memory will reign forever in Ibadanland.”
