IBADAN NORTH: Dr Islamiyat Abdulkadir Debunks Withdrawal Rumour, Affirms SDP Candidacy for Ibadan North Bye-Election

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election, Dr. Islamiyat Oluwatoyin Abdulkadir, has strongly denied reports suggesting she has withdrawn or stepped down from the race.

In a statement personally signed and released to the press, Dr. Abdulkadir, popularly known as Isila Ibadan, described the rumours as false, misleading, and part of a wider campaign of disinformation aimed at undermining her candidacy.


“I want to make it abundantly clear to the good people of Ibadan North, my supporters, and the general public that I have not stepped down for anyone, neither am I in any form of negotiation to relinquish my candidacy in favour of any other aspirant,” she said.
The clarification follows the emergence of unverified claims circulating in some quarters of the constituency, alleging that Dr. Abdulkadir had exited the race or had been disqualified. The medical doctor and public health advocate also raised concern about the omission of her name from the recently published candidate list by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).


“It is deeply concerning that my name is currently missing from the INEC list of candidates,” she noted, adding that she had reached out to relevant authorities to seek urgent clarification and correction of what she described as a “troubling development.”
Dr. Abdulkadir hinted that the situation, which could be a deliberate ploy by political opponents determined to slow down the growing momentum of her campaign and confuse voters.
“But let it be known: this is a failed plot, and it will not stand,” she declared.
She assured her supporters that all legal and institutional channels were being pursued to ensure the issue is resolved swiftly. She also reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to the people of Ibadan North.
“To my supporters, I urge you to remain calm but vigilant. Do not relent in your support or be swayed by propaganda. Our mission to bring accessible healthcare, youth and women empowerment, quality education, community development, and accountable leadership to Ibadan North remains stronger than ever.”
