Oyo State Indigenes, Associates Hail Prof Adeniyi Olowofela as Tenure as Federal Character Commissioner Ends

“Professor Olowofela, honestly I am short of words because your passing out as FCC Commissioner is a mixed feeling to me. You are one of the very first persons who used your position to change many lives in terms of employment in Oyo State. You are a dynamic leader of note — a leader who never ignores the calls of his people, any time, any day. I am so impressed with your leadership qualities without bias. I pray Almighty God will surely grant all your future political heart desires in Jesus’ name. Many have written their names on sand and the wind blew them away, but you have engraved your name on the rocks which no one can erase. Keep it up, Sir — mercy will surely speak for you at the top again in Jesus’ mighty name. I love you.”

These were the heartfelt words of an admirer as encomiums continued to pour in for Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, whose tenure as the Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State came to an end on July 1, 2025.

Another well-wisher added: “Congratulations, Prof. You’ve set the standard, raised the bar, and redefined leadership. Your legacy of integrity, fairness, and service will inspire generations. Greater doors await you, Sir — keep shining and evolving.”

Prof. Olowofela, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ido Local Government, was sworn in by the late President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2020. In his five years of service, he became widely respected across Oyo State for using the office to bring the dividends of democracy to the people without bias.

From Ibadan to Oyo, Ogbomosho to Ibarapa, and down to Oke Ogun, his tenure was marked by an unmatched drive to secure pensionable jobs for qualified indigenes. Associates note that hardly a month passed without at least one successful employment linked to his direct efforts.

His employment drive was also seen as similar to the empowerment vision of the late Hon. Musiliu Akinremi “Jagaban,” the Ibadan North House of Representatives member who passed away a year ago. Like the late lawmaker, Prof. Olowofela was known for his grassroots connection, accessibility, and deliberate efforts to uplift the youth through sustainable opportunities.

A former academic and seasoned public servant, Olowofela brought his exposure and experience into play, ensuring that federal appointments and opportunities reached the people equitably. His tenure is being hailed as a model for fairness, diligence, and selfless leadership in public office.

Though his tenure was not renewed, many in Oyo State believe his record of service has firmly secured his place in the hearts of the people. For many, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela’s name is now etched in stone, a testament to a leader whose service was defined by fairness, compassion, and results.
