Relief for Constituents and Motorists as Akin Alabi Confirms New Contractor for Ibadan–Ife–Ilesa Expressway

There is renewed hope for residents and motorists along the Ibadan–Ife–Ilesa Expressway as Hon. Akin Alabi, Member of the House of Representatives representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, has confirmed that the Federal Government has re-awarded the reconstruction of the expressway to CBC Global Civil & Building Construction Nigeria Limited.

Hon. Alabi, who disclosed this in an update on Wednesday, said the development follows the termination of the previous contract with Kopek Construction Company due to unsatisfactory progress on the project.

According to him, although the stretch from Iwo Road to Asejire remains of particular concern to residents of Egbeda and Ona Ara, the Federal Government considers the Ibadan–Ife–Ilesa Expressway as one unified project, not segmented by constituency boundaries.

He stated that the new contractor, CBC Global, is a reputable multinational firm with a proven record of delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in Nigeria and across Africa. The company will employ concrete pavement technology, a modern and durable construction method designed to ensure the road’s longevity for up to 50 years without major rehabilitation.

“Work is expected to commence from the Osun State end of the expressway,” Alabi explained. “However, I am in active discussions with the contractor to carry out palliative works on the most deteriorated and dangerous sections within our constituency to provide immediate relief to road users. This will commence as soon as possible.”

Hon. Alabi expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for prioritizing the project and demonstrating renewed commitment to improving critical federal infrastructure across the country.

He assured constituents of continued updates as the project progresses and reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that the people of Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency benefit fully from the Federal Government’s infrastructure renewal drive.

“I thank everyone for their patience and understanding. Please be assured of my highest regards,” he concluded.
