Hon Abiodun Gbolagade Congratulates New Oyo NUJ Chairman Akeem Babatunde Abass

APC chieftain and 2027 Oluyole Federal Constituency aspirant, Hon. Abiodun Gbolagade, has congratulated Akeem Babatunde Abass on his emergence as the new Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council.

Akeem Babatunde Abass succeeds Ademola Babalola, who has led the union since 2019 and completed his tenure with notable contributions to the growth and stability of the council.


Hon. Gbolagade described the new chairman’s election as a positive step for the media community in the state, acknowledging the vital role journalists continue to play in strengthening democracy, shaping public discourse and ensuring accountability.

“I congratulate Mr. Akeem Babatunde Abass on his election as the new Chairman of Oyo NUJ. I wish him the wisdom, strength and success needed to steer the council to greater height.”

Hon. Gbolagade also commended the outgoing chairman, Ademola Babalola, for his service and stewardship over the past six years, stating that the council has remained stable and vibrant under his leadership.

He added that the media remains a trusted partner in nation-building and expressed optimism that the new leadership will further uphold professionalism and unity within the union.

“I pray for continuous progress for Oyo NUJ and look forward to stronger collaboration between the media and all stakeholders as we work together for the development of Oyo State.”
