The City Boy Movement, Oyo State Chapter, has organised a free medical outreach for residents of Ibadan North West Local Government Area, with hundreds of people benefiting from the healthcare intervention.

The outreach, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare and promoting preventive medical care, offered participants free medical examinations, consultations, medications and other essential health services.

A team of medical professionals conducted a range of health screenings, including blood sugar tests, urinalysis, dental examinations, eye tests, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, blood pressure checks, general health evaluations and medical consultations.

Beneficiaries diagnosed with various medical conditions received prescribed medications free of charge, while those found to have vision challenges were provided with eyeglasses based on professional recommendations.

Many residents described the initiative as timely, saying it eased the financial burden of accessing routine healthcare services.

One of the beneficiaries, Adetayo Azeez, said the outreach saved participants the high cost of medical tests and consultations.

“I want to thank the City Boy Movement for this programme. A few days ago, I made enquiries about the cost of these medical tests and discovered they would have cost me several thousands of naira, which I could not afford. Today, everything was done completely free, including the tests, consultations and medications. I am truly grateful,” he said.

Speaking with journalists at the event, the Deputy State Director of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, Dr. Titilope Gbadamosi, commended the leadership of the movement for organising the outreach, describing it as a demonstration of the group’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of citizens.

She said the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by taking essential healthcare services directly to the grassroots.

According to her, many Nigerians face economic challenges that make access to quality healthcare difficult, stressing that community-based interventions such as the medical outreach provide much-needed relief to vulnerable residents.

Dr. Gbadamosi reaffirmed the commitment of the City Boy Movement to supporting programmes that improve the quality of life of Nigerians through healthcare, youth empowerment and other community development initiatives.

Residents who participated in the outreach also praised the organisers for creating awareness about preventive healthcare and enabling early detection and treatment of medical conditions.

The medical outreach forms part of the City Boy Movement’s ongoing community intervention programmes aimed at complementing government efforts to improve access to quality healthcare and enhance the welfare of underserved communities across Oyo State.
