Dr. Ademola Wasiu Alli (AWA), a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and 2027 aspirant for the Oyo Central Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his commitment to the party while calling for genuine reconciliation, restitution and unity following the conclusion of the party’s nomination processes. In a statement, AWA urged party members to remain united, resolve grievances through dialogue and keep the continuity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a shared rallying point ahead of the 2027 general elections:

‎SUPPORTING UNITY, SEEKING RESTITUTION: STANDING WITH OUR PARTY, STANDING FOR OUR PRINCIPLES

‎Following the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination processes for the 2027 general elections in Oyo State, I have consulted extensively with party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and loyalists regarding the way forward.

I sincerely appreciate the thousands of party members and supporters across Oyo Central who stood with me during the senatorial primary. Your sacrifices, commitment and confidence in our aspiration will never be taken for granted. I equally recognise the disappointment of those who believe that the outcome did not adequately reflect their preferences, and I share their concerns.

‎Throughout the primary process, I remained neutral in the gubernatorial contest and focused exclusively on seeking the mandate to represent Oyo Central in the Senate. Accordingly, my position today is not influenced by any political arrangement arising from the gubernatorial primary.

On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, I met with the party’s reconciliation committee, where I reaffirmed my commitment to the APC while expressing the legitimate concerns arising from the Oyo Central senatorial primary. I remain committed to resolving these concerns through the established mechanisms of the party.

‎I recognise that genuine reconciliation must involve listening, acknowledgement, healing and restitution. By restitution, I do not necessarily mean reversing outcomes; rather, I mean taking meaningful steps to address legitimate grievances, rebuild damaged relationships and restore the confidence of our grassroots members. Our people must feel that their sacrifices, contributions and commitment to the party matter.

‎I therefore appeal to all my supporters to remain calm, peaceful and disciplined. We must not allow disappointment to create division or permit disagreement to undermine the political family we have built. Whatever our differences may be, the APC remains our platform, and its strength depends on our ability to resolve our disagreements without destroying the bonds that hold us together.

‎I congratulate Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Ph.D., on his emergence as the APC gubernatorial candidate. Beyond politics, we share a longstanding personal relationship. I appeal to him to use his candidacy as an opportunity to build bridges, reconcile all tendencies within the party and give every member a renewed sense of belonging.

‎More importantly, we must not lose sight of the larger responsibility before us as members of the APC. The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must remain a major rallying point for us. We must work collectively to ensure that the reforms and programmes of the administration receive the necessary grassroots understanding, support and mobilisation required to consolidate the gains being made.

‎As we approach 2027, our responsibility is not merely to win elections, but to ensure continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda by mobilising our people and delivering a decisive, landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This requires a united APC, effective grassroots engagement, responsible leadership and a party that is strong enough to accommodate differences while remaining focused on the larger national objective.

We seek unity, but not at the expense of truth.

We seek reconciliation, but not without restitution.

‎We seek peace, but not through the silencing of genuine grievances.

And above all, we seek a stronger APC capable of delivering a resounding victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and sustaining the Renewed Hope Agenda.

‎I remain committed to the greater good of Oyo State.

And I remain committed to the continued progress of Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
