- The Red Bull driver sits top of the 2023 standings, 69 points clear of his teammate Sergio Perez
Max Verstappen produced another dominant performance in the Canadian Grand Prix to secure his fourth straight victory in the 2023 Formula 1.
He led the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal from start to finish but did so with a dead bird stuck in the brake duct of his Red Bull.
The Dutchman radioed Red Bull on Lap 11 that he had hit a bird and stayed in his car for the rest of the race as he fended off former world champions Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, who finished second and third, respectively, per ESPN.
The triumph in Montreal was Red Bull’s 100th in Formula 1 and Verstappen’s 41st, which equals the tally of three-time world champion and Formula 1 icon Ayrton Senna.
Verstappen stretched his lead over Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez to 69 points after eight events. Red Bull are 154 points ahead of Mercedes in the constructors’ championship.
Red Bull have also won 18 of the last 19 races, including every Grand Prix of this season.
