An open letter to PBAT: Choosing unity over divisions – A plea for an impartial Oyo State ministerial candidate- Omo Iyalaje
Renowned social commentator, Ife Esan popularly known as Omo Iyalaje, has taken to her social media platform to address a critical concern regarding the selection of a ministerial nominee by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Ife Esan passionately calls for the appointment of an individual who possesses wide acceptability and is not perceived as biased. In her open letter, she emphasizes the importance of impartiality and unity in governance.
In her open letter, Omo Iyalaje, a lawyer, an Early Childhood Educationist and a member of APC in Oyo State, addressed President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and articulated her concerns, emphasizing the need for a transparent and unbiased selection process. She writes:
“Dear Mr President,
The Asiwaju of gbogbo Nigeria, you lead others follow.
We are all excited at the progress you have brought to our party so far, especially upon your ascension on to the seat of Aso Rock as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The whole party have followed keenly the process in which the leaders of the National Assembly have emerged and we are satisfied with the outcomes so far.
Next is the list of Ministers which everyone is interested in and scrounging for.
Sir, it has been rumoured that Alhaji Ahmed Raji SAN has been penned down as the candidate for a Ministerial appointment.
I and some others youths who share the same ideology in Oyo APC have a dissenting opinion about that.
Ahmed Raji SAN, the Learned Silk who happens to be my Learned senior in the legal profession might not be the ideal candidate for Oyo State.
Reason being that it’s public knowledge that the CJN, Hon Justice Ariwoola and Ahmed Raji are from the same ancient and beautiful town of Iseyin.
Iseyin people are kind and wonderful and there is definitely no bias against them, but this is politics sir, we can’t have two major people as big as the CJN from Iseyin and also have a Minister appointed by your person from Iseyin.
Except you are willing for Iseyin people to break a record which might be politically displeasing to the people of Oyo state in general.
Ahmed Raji SAN is relatively unknown in the APC political circle, infact, his political leanings and sympathy tends toward Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP and so it might be another undoing for the Oyo APC to have a person like that take our slot in Oyo APC.
Those selling the idea want their own bidding done , even if the loyalty of such persons is not fully with the Presidency.
How then do we have a Minister whose loyalty is rootly embedded out of the Presidency, that will be dangerous sir.
Oyo state APC is currently fractured into numerous fractions and the people’s emotions run high, any political appointment which might rub off the wrong way should please be avoided sir.
We need a political appointee who would rally round the warring parties and make it a whole house again.
Your Excellency, it is your prerogative to choose those whom you desire to work with , you might decide to work with non politicians who are widely referred to as technocrats.
Ahmed Raji is a fine lawyer in his area of specialisation, but I assure you, there are very fine technocrats spread across Oyo state which will be widely acceptable and not looked upon with bias.
I sincerely hope this may be looked upon Your Excellency.
