Subsidy removal: Taraba Governor declares free education in Primary and Secondary Schools, launches renovation drive
Governor Kefas acknowledged the need to enhance the infrastructure of schools to meet modern educational standards
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba has taken a significant step towards improving access to education by declaring free primary and secondary education in all state government schools, effective from the next academic session. This decision comes as a response to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

During his visit to primary and secondary schools in Wukari, Governor Kefas made the momentous announcement, emphasizing the importance of providing education to all children in Taraba. Starting from the upcoming academic session, primary and secondary education will be completely free in the state.

Furthermore, Governor Kefas acknowledged the need to enhance the infrastructure of schools to meet modern educational standards. Consequently, his administration will promptly initiate renovation projects across numerous schools, aiming to create a conducive learning environment for students.
It would be recalled that Governor Kefas recently declared a state of emergency in primary and secondary education, leading to a 50 percent reduction in school fees at Taraba University and the College of Nursing and Midwifery.

Daniel Nuhu, a respected zonal director of education, commended Governor Kefas for personally assessing the conditions of public schools in the state. Mr. Nuhu emphasized that the introduction of free education and the ongoing renovation initiatives in primary and secondary schools will greatly benefit the underprivileged population, granting them equal opportunities to receive a high-quality education.
With these progressive measures, Governor Kefas demonstrates his commitment to prioritizing education and fostering a brighter future for the youth of Taraba.
