Minister of Steel Development Unveils Bold Plan to Revitalize Ajaokuta Steel and Ignite Industrial Revolution
The Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Audu, underscored the urgent need to rejuvenate the Ajaokuta Steel Company during a recent press briefing in Abuja.
The Minister, at the briefing, revealed his multifaceted approach, which encompasses not only the development of a strategic roadmap for the overall advancement of the steel sector but also a determined effort to expedite the completion of the Ajaokuta steel project.
Additionally, Audu emphasized the importance of enacting crucial bills to establish a regulatory framework that will govern and streamline the operations of the steel industry.
“Our past leaders recognised the importance of steel development but lacked the political will to achieve its objectives.
“The steel development is synonymous with the Ajaokuta Steel plant, whose commencement has been over 40 years ago. We aim to start the engine and ensure that we produce at least a small sheet of steel within this administration.
“It is a known fact that steel is the bedrock of any nation’s development; if gotten right, it may be the beginning of our industrial revolution.”
