Wike Resolves Abuja Airport Runway Dispute, Paving Way for Construction to Begin

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has resolved a community dispute that was stopping the construction of the Abuja Airport Second Runway.

Wike made the announcement after a meeting with the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, Minister of State, FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, the Sarki of Jiwa and representatives of the community.

The community had been demanding compensation for the land that would be used for the runway.

Wike has agreed to award the community N825 million as compensation, as well as a road and a health care facility.

Contractors for the project are now expected to immediately mobilize to site and commence work.

The resolution of this dispute is a major step forward for the construction of the Abuja Airport Second Runway.

It is expected that the runway will be completed in the next few months, significantly improving the capacity of the airport and reducing flight delays.
