Osun State Police Appeals for Calm Following Death of Sodiq Alamu

The Osun State Police Command is appealing for calm in the communities of Ilobu and Ifon following the death of one Sodiq Alamu, a 28-year-old man.

Alamu’s body was found along Opapa village in Ilobu on Sunday, September 17, 2023. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.

In a statement released on Monday, September 18, 2023, the police command urged residents of Ilobu, Ifon, and the surrounding communities to remain calm and not to take the law into their own hands.

The statement also warned against clandestine meetings being held by some individuals and groups of people to cause mayhem in the communities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Kehinde Longer, has been holding meetings with the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olaniyan, and other relevant stakeholders to appeal for peace and cooperation.

The police command has assured residents that it is working tirelessly to unravel the circumstances surrounding Alamu’s death and bring the perpetrators to justice.
