Oyo State Labour Veterans Association: Barrister Agbaje Bags Award

…..Calls for Strong Hearts in the face of adversity

Chieftain of the Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC)  and legal luminary, Barrister Akeem Agbaje, stole the spotlight today at the inaugural “Oyo State Veterans Labour Association’s Annual General Meeting.

Not only did he chaired the event, but he also walked away with the association’s prestigious “Meritorious Award for Selfless Service to Humanity.”

Held at the NUJ Hall in Ibadan, the event drew veterans comrades from across Oyo State and beyond, all united under the theme “The Labour of Our Heroes Past.”

In his opening remarks, Barrister Agbaje praised the veterans for their unwavering contributions to the progress of both the association and society at large.

He urged the veterans to maintain strong hearts in the face of adversity. “If you have a weak heart,” he warned, “people will exploit your vulnerabilities and try to bring you down.” He emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in achieving the association’s goals.

The Oyo State Labour Veterans Association, comprised of women and men who embody the spirit of the old-school “activist,” aims to:

  • Foster social life among members for improved health, well-being, and graceful aging.
  • Provide a platform for conflict resolution and promote positive labour/employer relations.
  • Create a robust forum for interpersonal connection and collaboration among past leaders of industrial unions and labor in the state.

The inaugural event was a resounding success, drawing dignitaries from across various sectors in Oyo State. It served as a powerful tribute to the veterans’ contributions and a promising glimpse into the association’s future.
