Federal Bureaucracy Slowing Down Renewed Hope Agenda- President Tinubu
Urges Bureaucracy Reform to Improve Nigerians’ Lives
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on federal permanent secretaries to expedite processes and prioritize citizen welfare in a bid to revitalize the nation.
During a meeting with the Head of Service, permanent secretaries, and directors-general, President Tinubu emphasized the need for swift action on matters impacting the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.
The president expressed his disapproval of bureaucratic inefficiencies that hinder economic interventions and social programs aimed at assisting vulnerable populations. He has mandated monthly briefings from the Head of Service and the submission of performance reports for evaluation.
Additionally, quarterly meetings between the president and permanent secretaries will be held to monitor progress towards achieving the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
“Before the next meeting, I want to see progress in the civil service,” President Tinubu declared. “Service to the nation is extremely important. We are to change the narrative on Nigeria.”
He urged public servants to embrace a generational perspective, recognizing their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future and impacting the lives of over 200 million citizens.
“Let us make our children’s dreams come true,” he implored. “Why are we slowing that down? It is unacceptable. We made a pledge to bring our people out of poverty. You should not increase their vulnerability.”
The president’s address follows a briefing by the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who presented performance data based on established key performance indicators
