Oyo State chieftain of the All Progressives’ Congress, Barrister Akeem Agbaje has mourned the passing on of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun CFR (Alli Okunmade II).

In a statement released by him, the Ibadan born legal luminary cum politician expressed shock at the sudden transition of the revered monarch. He eulogized his reign which he described as peaceful and developmental for Oyo State in general and Ibadanland in particular.

“I am deeply shocked and saddened by the passing on of our king, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Olalekan Balogun (Alli Okunmade II). Our late king was a father to all, rich and well versed in the culture and tradition of Ibadanland. He used his education, administrative acumen, political nous and wealth of experience within the time of his reign to push Ibadanland forward. His ideas were bold and progressive. He would be thoroughly missed but his legacies would continue to shine through.

“I want to commiserate with all sons and daughters of Ibadanland and friends of the city on this deep and painful loss. Indeed, a towering elephant has slept like a hill. May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah Firdous.“
