Ibadan residents can expect smoother commutes and improved traffic flow following the commissioning of junction improvement projects at Idi Ape, Civic Centre, and Agodi Gate by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

The Governor announced the initiative will not only reduce travel time but also boost commercial activity in the area. Additionally, it will strengthen enforcement of the rule of law regarding street trading, promoting orderliness in the city.

Governor Makinde addressed jubilant traders, assuring them of his commitment: “We can see how beautiful this environment is now and our plan is to keep it that way. Street trading and illegal dumping of refuse are two uncivil acts we must do away with as citizens.”

He emphasized the project’s significance, stating: “By completing and commissioning this project, we are making a clear statement… With this project, we are bringing sanity to this axis.”

Governor Makinde further announced plans for three additional junction improvement projects, underlining his vision: “Let me also announce that another three are coming to Ibadan… So, we are keeping our promise to make Ibadan a more organized city.”

The project aligns with the Oyo State Roadmap to Sustainable Development 2023-2027, promoting order and a commitment to a more organized Ibadan.

Praising the project’s contribution to urban development, Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, emphasized the importance of collaboration among states for the nation’s progress.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Prof. Dahud Shangodoyin, elaborated on the project’s scope, including traffic management systems, car parks, bus shelters, and dedicated stalls for vendors.

Furthermore, Commissioner Shangodoyin announced the commencement of the 32.2km road infrastructure component of the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project, signifying another step towards the state’s sustainable development goals.
