Ex-Oyo Deputy Commissioner of Police, CP Festus Eribo, Takes Over Akwa Ibom Command

The Police Service Commission has approved the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police for the appointment of CP Festus Eribo as the new substantive Commissioner of Police for the Akwa Ibom State Command. He replaces CP Miller Gagere Dantawaye, who was one of four commissioners initially recommended for posting as substantive Commissioners of Police.

CP Festus Eribo, a law graduate of the University of Calabar, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has served in various capacities within the Nigeria Police Force, including as Liaison Officer at the Police Service Commission and Assistant Commissioner, Federal Operations, at Force Headquarters.

Eribo’s extensive career includes postings as Area Commander at both Area M and Area F in Lagos, as well as at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Lafia, Nasarawa State. He also held the position of Area Commander, Agodi, in Ibadan, Oyo State, before advancing to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at the Zonal CID in Zone 9, Umuahia, and Deputy Commissioner Operations in Kogi State Command.

Prior to this appointment, CP Festus Eribo served as the substantive Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, where he gained further experience in managing state-level law enforcement operations.

His appointment to Akwa Ibom State comes at a critical time, with expectations that his broad background and leadership will contribute to strengthening security efforts in the state.
