Dangote Refutes Claims on PMS Pricing to NNPCL
In response to a recent statement attributed to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, Dangote Group has firmly denied allegations regarding the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at N898 per litre.
The Dangote Group, through its Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, released a press statement on September 15, 2024, describing the claims as “misleading and mischievous.”
The statement pointed out that such comments are an attempt to undermine the significant milestone achieved by the Dangote Group in addressing Nigeria’s long-standing energy challenges.
“This statement is both misleading and mischievous, deliberately aimed at undermining the milestone achievement recorded today towards addressing energy insufficiency and insecurity, which has bedeviled the economy for the past 50 years,” Chiejina noted.
Dangote Group emphasized that the current stock of crude was procured in dollars and that it has been sold to the NNPCL at competitive prices, resulting in substantial savings compared to the cost of imported petroleum products.
“We sold the products to NNPCL in dollars with a lot of savings against what they are currently importing.”
The company urged Nigerians to disregard the false pricing claims and await the formal announcement on PMS pricing, which will be determined by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries.
