Ibadan Traditional Baales Honour Agbaje with Award of Excellence and Distinguished Leadership
The Council of Ibadan Traditional Baales on Saturday, 16th November 2024, honored Barr Akeem Agbaje, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oyo State chapter, with an Award of Excellence and Distinguished Leadership. The ceremony, held at Ibadan House, celebrated Agbaje’s unwavering commitment to promoting the culture of the Yoruba race and his contributions to humanity.
The award was presented by the General President of the Ibadan Traditional Baales, Baale (Elite) Oladapo Wasiu Aare (ANIMN) of Aroro Town, Akinyele Local Government, who described Agbaje as a worthy descendant of the late Chief Salami Agbaje of Ayeye.
Speaking during the presentation, Baale Oladapo praised Agbaje’s dedication to cultural renaissance, love for Ibadanland, and his generous contributions to societal development. He noted that Agbaje’s values of Omoluabi and his commitment to uplifting others made him eminently deserving of the recognition.
“Barr. Akeem Agbaje has consistently shown his belief in the preservation and promotion of Yoruba culture and values. His love for Ibadanland and his generosity toward mankind distinguish him as a leader of excellence. This award is a testament to his remarkable contributions and a call to do even more,” Baale Oladapo stated.
He further urged Agbaje to sustain his efforts in supporting humanity and the progress of Ibadanland, emphasizing the need for leaders like him to remain steadfast in their service to the community.
In his acceptance speech, Barr Akeem Agbaje expressed gratitude to the Council of Traditional Baales for the recognition and their unwavering support. He pledged to continue working for the advancement of Ibadanland and Oyo State, drawing inspiration from the legacy of his late grandfather, Chief Salami Agbaje.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition from the Council of Ibadan Traditional Baales. This award is not just for me but for everyone who believes in the progress and prosperity of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general. I promise to uphold the legacy of my grandfather, Chief Salami Agbaje, and to continue giving my best toward the development of our community,” Agbaje said.
