Federal Government Introduces AI Tool to Streamline Civil Service Operations

In a move to modernize governance, the Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled its advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool, Service-Wise GPT, at the prestigious Global Government Summit 2025 in Singapore. The innovative AI-powered assistant is designed to revolutionize public service delivery, setting a new standard for efficiency, transparency, and accountability in governance.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, announced the launch during her keynote presentation titled ‘’Model Behaviour: How to Govern with AI, Empowering Governance with AI: Nigeria’s National AI Journey and Service-Wise GPT Insight.’’ She emphasized the transformative potential of AI in enhancing public service operations and driving economic growth both nationally and globally.

Service-Wise GPT, currently in its Beta version, is a user-centric AI tool meticulously designed to simplify and streamline the operations of the Federal Civil Service. It provides instant access to critical resources such as Public Service Rules, Statutory Instruments, Regulations, and Guidelines, ensuring that civil servants can perform their duties more efficiently.

Walson-Jack highlighted the tool’s capabilities, stating, “Service-Wise GPT will automate policy drafting, official memos, and real-time policy research assistance. It will save time, reduce administrative task hours, improve compliance, and enhance productivity across ministries.”

The AI tool is expected to facilitate faster decision-making, improve service delivery, and ensure regulatory adherence, ultimately transforming how government agencies operate.

The Head of the Civil Service shared insights from a 2025 research study, which revealed overwhelming positive feedback from users. According to the study, 73% of civil servants reported saving 2–3 hours daily using Service-Wise GPT, while the tool received a 90% user recommendation rate for its efficiency and accessibility.

“Service-Wise GPT enables civil servants to work smarter, faster, and more inclusively while ensuring transparency and accountability,” Walson-Jack noted.

Walson-Jack described the launch of Service-Wise GPT as a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for public good. She reaffirmed the government’s dedication to building an efficient and responsive Federal Civil Service, with Service-Wise GPT serving as a cornerstone of this vision.

“This tool is a significant step in our journey to deliver a world-class civil service that meets the needs of Nigerians in the 21st century.”
