FIRS Posts Record N21.6 Trillion Revenue in 2024, Sets N25.2 Trillion Target for 2025

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced a historic revenue generation of N21.6 trillion for the year 2024, surpassing its target of N19.4 trillion. The achievement was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of FIRS, Zacch Adedeji, during his keynote address at the opening of a two-day 2025 FIRS Management Retreat, themed “Building a High-Performing FIRS: Elevating Performance Through Collaboration and Innovation,” held at Fraser Suites, Abuja, on Thursday.
Buoyed by the remarkable performance, the Service has set an ambitious revenue target of N25.2 trillion for 2025. Adedeji attributed the success to the resilience, professionalism, and dedication of FIRS staff, coupled with visionary leadership and a strategic focus on people, technology, and processes.

“This was no small feat,” Adedeji declared. “It was the result of your resilience, professionalism, and dedication, coupled with visionary leadership and a strategic focus on the pillars of people, technology, and processes.”
Adedeji emphasized that FIRS is more than a revenue authority; it is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic stability and a vital pillar upholding the nation’s progress. He described the Service as an agent of renewed hope for all Nigerians, enabling the delivery of critical infrastructure, social services, and opportunities that transform lives.
“Our work enables the delivery of critical infrastructure, social services, and opportunities that transform lives. We are not just staff members; we are agents of the nation, entrusted with a responsibility that goes far beyond the walls of this organization,” he said.
The FIRS Chairman noted that 2024 was a pivotal year in laying a solid foundation for transforming the Service into a globally recognized, efficient, and trusted revenue authority. He described the year as a period of strategic growth, positioning FIRS as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic progress.
As the Service steps into 2025, Adedeji outlined a strategic roadmap anchored on three critical pillars: capacity building and training, technology-driven transformation, and operational excellence.
Capacity Building and Training: FIRS plans to empower its workforce with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to excel in modern tax administration. High-impact training programs aligned with global best practices will enable staff to navigate complexities, embrace innovation, and provide stellar service to taxpayers.
Technology-Driven Transformation: The Service will expand its integrated tax administration systems, unify national platforms on collection, leverage emerging technologies, and enhance taxpayer-facing platforms. These efforts aim to create seamless, efficient, and transparent processes that redefine the taxpayer experience.
Operational Excellence: FIRS will focus on consolidating its internal strengths to ensure long-term resilience and operational excellence.
Adedeji also highlighted the Service’s commitment to leveraging technology to curb revenue leakages. He stressed that as service providers, FIRS is working for the prosperity of the people and the economy.
The FIRS Chairman called on staff and management to embrace 2025 with courage and purpose, turning challenges into opportunities and possibilities into achievements. “Together, we will propel FIRS to unparalleled heights, setting a new benchmark for distinction and redefining what success means,” he said.
