Chieftain of the All Progressives’ Congress in Oyo State, Barrister Akeem Agbaje has joined the entire Yoruba race and the progressive family in mourning the death of elder-statesman and chieftain of Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo. In his condolence message released by his media office, Barr. Agbaje described the late Pa Adebanjo as a loyal lieutenant of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and a democratic warrior who fought tirelessly against the military junta to ensure the entrenchment of democracy.

“Pa Adebanjo is definitely an enigma who has left indelible footprints on the sands of time in the annals of Nigeria’s political history. As a frontline fighter against the annulment of the June 12 presidential election and the struggle for the return to democratic rule, Pa Adebanjo’s was an elder statesman of note.

His legacies of sacrifice and service to the nation even at the expense of personal comfort will continue to inspire younger and forthcoming generation. Baba lived a life of sacrifice to the nation and the Yoruba race. Indeed the country and Yoruba nation have lost a patriot and a voice of reason. I pray Almighty Allah grants him a peaceful rest, comfort and strengthen the family, friends and associates.”
