Ash Wednesday: Arisekola Alao Felicitates with Christian Community, Calls for Unity

Hon Umar Farouk Arisekola Alao, Ibadan North Federal Constituency Hopeful, has extended heartfelt greetings to the Christian community within his constituency and beyond as they commence the sacred season of Lent on this Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
In his message, Arisekola Alao emphasized the significance of Lent—a 40-day period dedicated to fasting, prayer, and reflection leading up to Easter—and acknowledged the concurrent observance of Ramadan by the Muslim community. This rare overlap of two major religious periods presents a unique opportunity for mutual respect and shared spirituality.

“As our Christian brothers and sisters embark on their Lenten journey, and we Muslims continue our observance of Ramadan, let us embrace this period as a time to strengthen the bonds of unity, peace, and mutual understanding,” Arisekola Alao stated. “Both seasons call for introspection, compassion, and a renewed commitment to our shared values.”
He further urged all constituents to use this time to foster community bonding, support the less fortunate, and engage in acts of kindness that transcend religious boundaries. “May this simultaneous observance inspire us to work collectively towards the betterment of our society, reinforcing the harmony that defines our diverse community.”
