Chief Dr. Olunloyo, a Rare Blend of Intellect and Service– Prof. Gbolagade

Prof. Abiodun Gbolagade, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oluyole Federal Constituency, has mourned the passing of former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, describing his death as the loss of a rare intellect and a towering figure in Nigeria’s academic and public service spheres.

Chief Olunloyo, who passed away days before his 90th birthday, was a cerebral and a renowned technocrat whose life was marked by excellence, public devotion, and principled leadership.

In a statement, Prof Gbolagade expressed deep sorrow over the loss but emphasized that Chief Olunloyo’s life should be celebrated for its richness in knowledge, character, and contribution to society.

“Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo was not only a former governor of Oyo State, he was an extraordinary academic and technocrat whose brilliance in mathematics and engineering distinguished him early in life and continued to define his public engagements.”

“His life’s journey was a profound testament to how knowledge and public service can be seamlessly combined. Chief Olunloyo embodied the best of both worlds – a committed scholar and an engaged public servant who remained relevant across generations,” Prof. Gbolagade stated.

“Though we mourn, we also celebrate a fulfilled life. May the memory of Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo continue to inspire the younger generation to uphold the values of knowledge, service, and integrity.”
