Easter Celebration: FG Urges Sacrifice and Unity, Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to Christians across the nation as they commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Minister emphasized the importance of reflecting on the core virtues of the Easter season—sacrifice, love, and redemption—symbolized by the crucifixion of Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind.

He urged Nigerians to use the Easter period to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country. Dr. Tunji-Ojo further reassured the public of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to foster national growth and development.

“As we celebrate, let us extend love and goodwill to our neighbours through acts of kindness,” the Minister stated. He concluded by wishing all Christians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
