Announce Date for Ibadan North Bye-Election Without Further Delay — Solalu Urges INEC

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ibadan North Local Government has called on the Independent Electoral Commission,INEC to announce the date for the conduct of the bye election into Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

Solalu, a veteran journalist and former Special Assistant on Information and Orientation to Late Governor Abiola Ajimobi stated this in a statement in Ibadan.

According to him, there is no justification for INEC to continue to deny the good people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency a deserved representation at the federal house of representatives after the unfortunate demise of late Hon Musiliu Olaide Akinremi.

According to him, “It’s been over eight months since the sudden death of Hon Musiliu Akinremi. Ibadan North federal constituency has been without a representative since then. This is quite sad and unfortunate. No one expected the conduct of the election to be delayed more than 90 days after the House of Representatives itself has formally announced the passage of the former lawmaker”.

“As a resident of Ibadan North, I want to call on INEC to announce the date for the election without further delay. A lot had happened that required the attention of a representative in the Federal Constituency. For instance, UCH,a foremost tertiary health institution was without electricity for over 180 days before the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu intervened. This is a federal institution that needs the attention of the federal government . This institution is within Ibadan North federal constituency”.
