Oyo Supervisory Councillors Forum Applauds Gov Makinde for Capacity-Building Seminar on Local Government Administration

The Oyo State Supervisory Councillors Forum has expressed appreciation to the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his unwavering commitment to strengthening grassroots governance, following the successful hosting of a two-day seminar themed “Public Governance and Strategic Plan Development in Local Government Administration.”

The seminar, which took place on Monday and Tuesday, May 12 and 13, 2025, was organized by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and brought together Supervisory Councillors and key local government functionaries from across the state.


In a statement released to the press, the Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Alarape Kabiru Imam, lauded the governor for what he described as a “visionary and purposeful investment” in the human capacity development of grassroots officials. He noted that the training was not only timely but also equipped participants with the tools needed to contribute more effectively to local governance.

“The Forum deeply appreciates His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for this impactful initiative aimed at repositioning local government administration in the state. The seminar reflects the governor’s sincere commitment to ensuring that the grassroots benefit from responsive and result-driven governance.”

The Forum also extended its gratitude to the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon Ademola Ojo whose office facilitated the successful hosting of the seminar. According to the Forum, the Ministry’s coordination and thematic focus contributed immensely to the quality of delivery dividends of grassroot governance across the local governments.

Participants at the seminar were exposed to contemporary approaches to strategic planning, accountability, citizen engagement, and effective policy implementation at the local government level, critical to sustaining the dividends of democracy across communities.

“As grassroots officers, we are returning to our various local governments better informed, better equipped, and more determined to serve our people. We are grateful to Governor Makinde for making this possible.”

The Forum reaffirmed its support for the Makinde administration and pledged continued dedication to advancing the goals of good governance and community development across all local government areas in Oyo State.
