Children’s Day: Prof Gbolagade Calls for Greater Commitment to Children’s Rights, Education

As Nigeria marks this year’s Children’s Day, Professor Abiodun Gbolagade, a seasoned educationist and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has called on government at all levels to reinforce their commitment to the protection, empowerment, and education of the Nigerian child.

The Oluyole Federal Constituency Hopeful, issued a statement congratulating children in his constituency and across the country, reaffirming the vital role they play in shaping the future of the nation.

He stressed the need for government institutions to ensure the effective implementation of child protection laws and policies, noting that no child should be subjected to violence, abuse, or discrimination in any form. “Children are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the foundation of our society today.”

As an academic with a lifelong commitment to education, Prof. Gbolagade emphasized the urgency of strengthening public education systems and ensuring access to quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all Nigerian children. He urged policymakers to treat education not just as a social service but as a national investment with far-reaching implications for development.

“Our children deserve more than promises; they deserve policies that work, schools that function, teachers that inspire, and communities that protect and nurture. It is only through education that we can truly secure a just and prosperous future for our nation.”

He concluded by encouraging parents, guardians, educators, and leaders to collectively safeguard the welfare and dignity of every Nigerian child while calling on the youth to remain hopeful and focused, as the future remains theirs to shape.
