Tax Education Goes Digital: FIRS Launches Tax Awareness Podcast

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at improving tax education and public engagement through the launch of the Tax Advocacy Podcast, a bi-weekly broadcast designed to demystify tax issues for the average Nigerian.

According to a statement released by the agency on Monday, the podcast, anchored by media personality Aderonke Bello, will serve as an informative platform to expand public understanding of FIRS operations, tax policies, and the strategic role taxation plays in national development.

“The Tax Advocacy Podcast is more than just a platform for information; it is a voice for transparency, clarity, and engagement. Our goal is to bridge the communication gap between the FIRS and the people, ensuring that every Nigerian understands how taxes work and why they matter,” said Bello.

The podcast is expected to delve into the agency’s services, products, and evolving policies while also spotlighting innovations in revenue administration. Each episode will feature conversations with tax experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from within and outside the Service.

The FIRS noted that the podcast will also encourage voluntary compliance and promote a culture of responsible citizenship by making tax-related matters more accessible and engaging to the public.

This digital initiative underscores the Service’s continued efforts to leverage innovation for improved public awareness, and further reinforces its commitment to transparency, education, and stakeholder engagement in Nigeria’s dynamic tax environment.
