5th Remembrance: Senator Ajimobi Was a Statesman of Principle and Vision — Prof Gbolagade

As family, friends, and political associates commemorate the remembrance of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Prof Abiodun Gbolagade, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Oluyole Federal Constituency hopeful, has paid glowing tribute to the late leader, describing him as a true statesman and visionary whose leadership continues to shape Oyo State and beyond.

In a solemn statement released, Prof Gbolagade described the late Ajimobi as “the architect of modern Oyo State,” noting that his legacy of transformational governance, structured development, and institutional reforms remains visible across all sectors of the state.

“Senator Abiola Ajimobi was not just a governor; he was a statesman of uncommon intellect and discipline, who brought his vast experience from both the private and public sectors into governance. His result-oriented approach transformed Oyo into a model of responsible leadership and sustainable progress,” Prof Gbolagade said.

“Senator Ajimobi’s groundbreaking achievements in infrastructure, education, peace and security, and governance reforms laid the foundation for the modern administrative efficiency we see in Oyo State today.”

“His impact was not limited to Oyo State alone. At the national level, he was widely respected for his bold ideas, firm principles, and intellectual clarity on issues of governance and public policy.”

“I am eternally grateful to His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, for the opportunity to contribute to governance under his watch. That experience remains a compass guiding my commitment to public service and the empowerment of my people.”

Prof Gbolagade extended heartfelt prayers for Her Excellency, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, and the entire Ajimobi family, praying for continued strength and fortitude to uphold and advance the legacy of the late governor.

“Senator Ajimobi’s life was one of leadership, mentorship, and integrity. As we remember him today, may we continue to honour his legacy by building a society driven by purpose, peace, and progress.”
