Jesus Vessel Shines Despite Final Loss in RCCG Oyo Province 22 Football Tournament

The Oyo province 22 of the popular Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) who organised a football tournament between different zones, Areas and parishes in its province, wrapped up the tournament Last Sunday, 20th July, 2025, with a fierce showdown between the RCCG Jesus Temple zonal team (Akobo) and RCCG Jesus Vessel (Akkinigain,Akala express).

The RCCG Jesus Vessel formidable team earlier gallantly bounced into the finals after their victorious win at the semi-finals when they battled against the zonal team of RCCG Jesus Citadel in a very eventful match on the 13th of July, at the popular Ikolaba high school field in Ibadan.

The match started at around 3:15pm. And it was indeed a tough battle, players aggressively trying to get control of the ball. Strikers trying desperately to get the ball in the nets of their opponents. In the first half, all players ran around the field with so much vigour, but RCCG Jesus Vessel had a series of missed chances that could have earned them multiple goals. Eventually the first half ended goalless(Jesus Temple nil vs Jesus Vessel nil).

The second half started with much more vigour and urgency. After about 25mins of serious struggle, and injuries. The RCCG Jesus Vessel team scored first and the victory was massively celebrated by their robust and energetic supporters.
However, in a dramatic turn of events, about 4 mins to the end of the match, the RCCG Jesus Temple team equalized. The final whistle was blown at around 4:55pm. The match ended 1-1, and a penalty was declared.

The RCCG Jesus Vessel team eventually lost to the RCCG Jesus Temple team. Both teams were however celebrated by the Pastor In Charge of Province (Pastor Ayorinde Awe) who commended the teams for being formidable and consistent from the start of the tournament and emerging victorious as the last teams standing after weeks of rigorous battle.

This Christian football tournament has attracted more young people to the RCCG parishes, and has indeed been a means of evangelism and talent discovery.
