Barr. Akeem Agbaje, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and 2027 gubernatorial aspirant, on Sunday paid a sympathy visit to Chief Dr. Yinka Ayefele (MON) at his Music House in Ibadan, following the devastating fire that razed parts of the Fresh FM head office on Friday, August 15, 2025.

During the visit, Barr. Agbaje expressed deep sadness over the destruction caused by the inferno, which gutted studios, broadcasting equipment, and other facilities worth billions of naira. He noted that new transmitters purchased for one of the baby stations were also lost to the incident.

Speaking at the Music House, he described the fire as a painful setback not only for Dr. Ayefele and the Fresh FM family but also for the entire media industry in Oyo State and beyond.

“I thank the Almighty Allah that no life was lost in this unfortunate occurrence. While the damage is monumental, the preservation of life is a blessing we must continue to appreciate.”

He sympathized with Dr. Ayefele, the management, staff, and teeming fans of Fresh FM, encouraging them to remain strong and resilient in the face of the huge losses. He further assured Dr. Ayefele of his unwavering support as the station embarks on the journey of recovery.

“Fresh FM has become an institution that has positively shaped journalism, entertainment, and community service in our state. I am confident that with the resilience that defines the Fresh FM brand, this setback will be turned into a greater comeback. My support and prayers are with you, Dr. Ayefele, and your team at this trying time.”

Barr Agbaje also commended the communal efforts of residents, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service who responded promptly to help contain the fire.

In his response, Dr. Yinka Ayefele expressed appreciation for the visit, describing the support and words of encouragement from Barr. Agbaje and other well-meaning individuals as a source of strength during this challenging period.

“Your visit means a lot to me and the entire Fresh FM family. Gestures like this provide succour as we try to navigate this trying time. I also want to thank our neighbours who stood by us and made great efforts even before the arrival of the fire service. Above all, we give glory to God that no life was lost to the inferno.”
