Oyo State Declares Wednesday Work-Free Day for Isese Day Celebration

The Oyo State Government has declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Isese Day Celebration.

The declaration was contained in a circular signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike K. Adeyemo, dated August 18, 2025.

According to the circular, Governor Seyi Makinde approved the work-free day in line with the state’s policy of promoting cultural heritage, indigenous spirituality, and traditional institutions.

The governor called on residents to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

Isese Day is dedicated to celebrating Yoruba culture, spirituality, and traditions, which in recent years have been officially recognised in Oyo State to encourage inclusivity and cultural preservation.
