Hon. Umar Farouk Arisekola-Alao has joined voices across the nation in celebrating teachers in Oyo State and beyond on the occasion of the 2025 World Teachers’ Day, acknowledging their immense contributions to education, character building, and national development.

In his goodwill message, the former Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), described teachers as the backbone of every progressive society, noting that their unwavering dedication to nurturing young minds forms the foundation for the nation’s future. He emphasized that teachers continue to play a pivotal role in shaping values, promoting discipline, and guiding generations toward excellence despite numerous challenges.

He commended the resilience and sacrifices of teachers, particularly those in public schools, who continue to deliver quality education under difficult conditions. He called on governments at all levels and relevant stakeholders to prioritize policies that would improve teachers’ welfare, training, and overall working environment.

“Our teachers deserve more than words of appreciation. They deserve improved working conditions, fair remuneration, and continuous professional development opportunities to meet modern educational demands.”

“Your impact is timeless, your influence immeasurable, and your service indispensable. On this special day, I celebrate you all.”
