In a move aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and restoring unity across its ranks, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the party’s pioneer National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, as the Chairman of the APC National Reconciliation Committee.

The appointment was one of the key outcomes of the 179th meeting of the NWC, presided over by the APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

According to the resolutions released after the meeting, the APC Enugu State Executive Committee has been dissolved with immediate effect, as part of efforts to reposition the party in the state ahead of upcoming congresses and elections.

In another major decision, the NWC reviewed the report of the Screening and Appeal Committees for the APC Ekiti Governorship Primaries, leading to the disqualification of Engr. Ojo Kayode and Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi from participating in the primary election. Meanwhile, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo were cleared to contest in the governorship primaries.

The committee noted that its actions were in line with the party’s constitution and guided by the principles of fairness, transparency, and discipline necessary to ensure credible internal democracy within the APC.

Additionally, the NWC announced that it is finalizing arrangements for the release of the timetable and schedule of the party’s congresses nationwide, signaling a renewed phase of political activity within the ruling party.

Party sources described the appointment of Chief Bisi Akande, a respected elder statesman and founding father of the APC, as a strategic step toward reconciling aggrieved members, rebuilding trust, and ensuring that the party remains united ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The National Chairman, Dr. Yilwatda, emphasized the NWC’s commitment to maintaining discipline and inclusiveness within the APC, saying the leadership would continue to uphold internal reforms that promote unity, accountability, and electoral success.
