APC chieftain and former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Hon. Umar Farouk Arisekola-Alao, has joined family members, associates, and admirers in commemorating the 76th posthumous birthday of the former Gov of Oyo State, Sen Abiola Ajimobi, describing him as a father, mentor, and a quintessential leader whose life was defined by service and purpose.

In a reflective message made available, Arisekola-Alao said the late Ajimobi was a leader who clearly understood the responsibility of leadership and lived it fully, both in governance and in partisan politics. He noted that the former governor’s legacy of discipline, courage, and developmental vision continues to shape public service in Oyo State and beyond.

“Sen Abiola Ajimobi was not just a political leader, he was a father and mentor to many of us. He led with clarity, conviction, and an uncommon sense of responsibility. His commitment to the development of Oyo State and his contributions to national discourse remain enduring reference points.”

He recalled that Ajimobi’s years in office were marked by bold reforms, infrastructural renewal, and a firm belief in order, peace, and progress, values which he said are still evident in the political culture of the state. According to him, the late governor’s influence transcended his time in office and continues to inspire leaders across generations.

Arisekola-Alao also linked the enduring relevance of Ajimobi’s legacy to the recent ambassadorial nomination of the matriarch of the Ajimobi family, Her Excellency, Dr Mrs Florence Ajimobi, describing it as a reflection of the family’s continued service to the nation and the respect earned through years of sacrifice and dedication.

As the state remembers the former governor on his posthumous birthday, Arisekola-Alao prayed for the repose of his soul and urged leaders to draw lessons from his life of discipline, vision, and unwavering commitment to public good.

“On this 76th posthumous birthday, we honour a leader whose legacy will not fade. May Almighty Allah continue to grant him eternal rest and may his life of service continue to inspire present and future generations.”
