Sarkin Hausawan Ibadan: Arisekola-Alao Commiserates with Arewa Community 

Hon. Umar Farouk Arisekola-Alao has expressed his condolences to the family and the Arewa community in Oyo State over the death of the Sarkin Hausawan Ibadan, Alhaji Ali Ɗahiru Zungeru.

In a condolence message, the former Commissioner for Youth and Sport in Oyo State, described the late Sarkin Hausawan as an exemplary and detribalised leader who believed in peaceful coexistence and worked consistently for the unity and progress of Oyo State and beyond. He noted that Alhaji Zungeru carried out his responsibilities with calmness, restraint, and a clear sense of duty to his people and the wider society.


“Alhaji Ali Ɗahiru Zungeru was a leader who understood the importance of unity in a diverse society. He related well across communities and remained committed to peace and mutual respect throughout his years of service. His approach to leadership earned him respect within and outside the Arewa community.”

He added that the late Sarkin Hausawan played a steady role in strengthening understanding between the Hausa community and their host communities in Ibadan, contributing to social stability and cooperation over the years.

Arisekola-Alao urged community leaders to sustain the values of dialogue and tolerance that defined Alhaji Zungeru’s leadership, especially at a time when unity remains important for social harmony.

“In this moment of loss, I join the family and the entire Arewa community in praying for the departed. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus. May Allah also grant his family and community the strength to bear the loss,” he said.
