Arisekola Alao Commends APC National Convention, Congratulates Yilwatda, Basiru, Others
Hon. Umar Farouk Arisekola Alao, Ibadan North Federal House of Representatives hopeful and former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, has extended warm congratulations to the newly emerged National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; the National Secretary, Dr. Surajudeen Basiru; and other members of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) following the just concluded national convention.

In a statement, Arisekola Alao also congratulated all members of the newly constituted National Executive Committee, describing their emergence as a reflection of the party’s unity, internal cohesion, and commitment to strengthening its structures across all levels.


He commended the peaceful and organized conduct of the convention, noting that it demonstrated maturity and a shared resolve among party leaders and stakeholders to reposition the APC for greater effectiveness ahead of future electoral engagements.
“The emergence of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman and Dr. Surajudeen Basiru as National Secretary marks a new phase of purposeful leadership for our great party. Their experience, administrative capacity, and dedication to the progressive ideals of the APC will no doubt enhance the party’s growth and stability.”

Arisekola Alao described the emergence of Dr. Surajudeen Basiru as a significant development for Oyo State and the South-West, stating that it reflects the trust and confidence reposed in him by party members across the country.
“Dr. Surajudeen Basiru’s elevation is a source of pride for Oyo State. His consistency, loyalty, and depth of experience have prepared him for this responsibility, and I am confident he will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the party at the national level.”
He urged members of the APC nationwide to rally behind the new leadership, emphasizing that unity, discipline, and collective commitment remain essential to sustaining the party’s strength and electoral success.
“The task ahead requires the support and cooperation of all stakeholders. With unity of purpose and dedication, the APC will continue to consolidate on its achievements and deliver on its mandate to Nigerians.”
Arisekola Alao expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated leadership would build on the party’s existing foundation and work towards ensuring continued progress and success for the APC, particularly as preparations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
