AWA Decries Abduction of Adelabu’s Sister and Children, Calls for Stronger Security Measures in Oyo State

Dr. Ademola Wasiu Alli (AWA), aspirant for the Oyo Central Senatorial District seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly condemned the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, younger sister of former Minister of Power and APC gubernatorial aspirant, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

‎In a statement made available to journalists, AWA described the incident as disturbing, painful, and unacceptable, noting that the growing threat posed by criminal elements requires urgent and coordinated action from all security stakeholders.

‎He expressed solidarity with Chief Adelabu, the entire Adelabu family, and the relatives of the victims, while praying for the safe and unharmed return of Mrs. John-Paul and her children.

“I can only imagine the anguish and emotional trauma this unfortunate incident has brought upon the family. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones at this difficult time. I join well-meaning Nigerians in hoping and praying for their safe rescue and speedy reunion with their family.”

‎The APC chieftain further stressed that the incident underscores the urgent need for a stronger security architecture, enhanced surveillance systems, and proactive intelligence gathering across Oyo State to prevent criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents.

According to him, government at all levels must continue to strengthen collaboration among security agencies, local communities, and intelligence networks to detect and neutralize security threats before they escalate into tragic incidents.

“The security of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government. These unfortunate developments should serve as a wake-up call for greater investment in intelligence-led policing, community-based security initiatives, and rapid response mechanisms capable of addressing emerging threats across our state.”

AWA commended the swift response of security operatives and expressed confidence in the capacity of the security agencies to secure the safe release of the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice. He also urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and provide useful information that may assist ongoing rescue efforts.
