Hon. Umar Farouk Arisekola Alao, APC candidate for Ibadan North Federal Constituency and former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, has commiserated with the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, over the death of his mother, Alhaja Sidikat Abake Basiru, who passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 28.

In a condolence message, Arisekola Alao described the death of the matriarch as a profound loss, not only to the Basiru family but also to the wider community, noting that the late Alhaja Sidikat Abake Basiru lived a life marked by strong family values and devotion.

He noted that she was blessed with children who have continued to distinguish themselves in public service and nation-building, a reflection of her upbringing, guidance, and moral strength during her lifetime.
“In this moment of grief, I pray that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings, accepts her good deeds, and grants her Aljanah Firdaus. May He also grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

He urged the family to take solace in the legacy of values and service the late matriarch left behind, while reaffirming his solidarity with Sen. Basiru during this difficult period.
